At Aesthetics by Sian, we offer Aqualyx which is an injectable fat dissolving treatment.

What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx® works by causing the dissolution of fat cells. The body then expels the released fatty acids naturally. Aqualyx is used to reduce localised, stubborn fat deposits in areas such as the chin, stomach,

outer and inner thighs, hips and bingo wings. Aqualyx® is a compound solution from the deoxycholate family that has been physically modified and, by creating a slow release sugar-based system, the biological half-life is reduced which results in minimal side effects. Aqualyx is injected into the treatment area and Aqualyx® liquefies the fat cell, destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.

How many treatments will I need?

The amount of Aqualyx treatments needed varies between individuals. It is advised that between 3 and 8 treatments of Aqualyx® are required for the best results. Costs vary based on treatment area and product amount.

Is Aquaylx suitable to be used as a weight loss method?

No, Aqualyx will not help to reduce weight. It is designed to target stubborn pockets of fat in individuals that do not have large amounts of fat to remove.

Do I have to eat healthily alongside this treatment?

Yes. Aqualyx will permanently destroy fat cells in the injected area, however a healthy diet must be followed alongside. It is advised after that individuals drink lots of water and eat healthily following

treatments to avoid any new fat cells being created in the treated area.

What is the aftercare advice post treatment?

- Avoid touching the area and try to keep the area clean for 24 hours post treatment

- Avoid applying cosmetics to the treated area for 24 hours following treatment

- Avoid alcohol for a minimum of 24 hours post treatment

- Avoid heavy exercise for a minimum of 72 hours after treatment

- Avoid a hot shower for 12 hours post treatment.

- Avoid exposing the treated area to intense heat, such as sun beds, saunas and sunbathing, for 2 weeks post treatment

- Avoid swimming for 2 weeks post treatment

- Wear SPF at all times following your treatment

- You may apply an ice pack to the treated area to reduce the initial swelling

- Massaging Arnica gel into the treated area 3-4 times a day can also help with bruising and swelling

- Pain killers, such as Paracetamol, can be taken post treatment, but avoid anti-inflammatory pain killers, such as Ibuprofen, for a minimum of 3 days post treatment.

- Drink a minimum of 3 litres of water daily for 2 weeks post treatment.

It is also important to remember to maintain a healthy lifestyle post treatment to maximise treatment

effectiveness. Weight gain will prevent you from appreciating your full results. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine after your procedure can help prevent this.
