How does Dermalux LED Phototherapy work?
Light has many positive effects on our bodies; it helps us to produce essential vitamin D, triggers growth, promotes
wellbeing and makes our skin glow! Phototherapy occurs naturally all around us and is based on the
principle that our cells absorb light and use it fuel natural rejuvenation and repair processes. Different wavelengths stimulate
different effects in the skin. We know that on-going exposure to UV light is very damaging but controlled levels of Red, Blue and Near Infrared light are clinically proven to be beneficial. A celebrity skin care favourite, LED Phototherapy is the application of
these beneficial wavelengths into the skin’s deepest layers to energise our cells with proven rejuvenating results. It is a natural response similar to that of plant photo-synthesis through a process known as photobiomodulation. Skin cells that are energised function better and can regenerate up to 200% faster which in turn leads to a more youthful, healthy and radiant complexion.
What is involved in a Dermalux LED Phototherapy treatment?
The Dermalux® treatment is a relaxing, pain free experience with proven mood enhancing effects. Enjoy some luxury me-time as your skin absorbs the energising light to kick start cell regeneration and
restore radiance. Each treatment lasts for around 20 minutes and with no downtime,
you can simply get up and glow! As the light triggers a whole cascade of skin enhancing processes, the visible benefits continue even after the treatment has finished. Dermalux® can also be used in combination with your regular skin

What is the pre-treatment advice for Dermalux LED Phototherapy?
In preparation for your LED Phototherapy treatment, all makeup and skin care products including sunscreen should be removed to allow absorption of beneficial light into the skin. For optimum results,
exfoliation prior to treatment helps to remove dead skin cells which may reflect the light. It is not necessary to remove contact lenses during the LED treatment.
Do I have to wear eye protection?
Visible Red and Near Infrared are eye safe and will not cause any damage to the eye, even with deliberate exposure. However, as the light is very bright, we recommend the use of the protective eye
goggles provided, for your comfort. With Blue light or any treatment combination including the Blue light, we strongly recommend that the client goggles are worn for the duration of the treatment. These will be provided at the appointment.
What is the aftercare advice for Dermalux LED Phototherapy?
Following your LED Phototherapy treatment, apply the recommended skin care products which should include an SPF
protection (day time only). Your skin care consultant can give you guidance on suitability of your current skin care products during the consultation. However, if LED Phototherapy has been used in conjunction with
other aesthetic procedures, specific aftercare advice should be followed. Make-up can be applied immediately following LED Phototherapy. However, we recommend the use of mineral based or non- comedogenic formulations that allow the skin to breathe. Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration levels and aid the lymphatic system to eliminate toxins. In the unlikely event that any adverse reaction occurs following treatment, please contact your skin care professional within 24 hoursfor advice.
